BEREA, OHIO -- The 19th-national ranked Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team clinched at least a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season title as they defeated OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University 3-0 (30-24, 30-27, 30-18) at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center in University Heights.
With its win, B-W improves to 24-4 overall and 8-1 in the OAC, and John Carroll falls to 9-21 overall, 1-8 in the OAC.
Offensively, junior All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) led the way with 12 kills, and sophomore teammate All-OAC outside hitter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./ West Catholic) recorded 11. Sophomore middle hitter Maria DePeters (Williamsville, N.Y./ Mt. St. Mary's Academy) and junior libero Meggie Marten (Bowing Green/ Senior) both contributed three service aces. Senior All-American setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) recorded 35 set assists.
Defensively, Marten and Camp both added 14 digs, while Selgo had 12. Leading the team in blocks was sophomore middle hitter Brooke Hinkle (Wellington) with five blocks, while teammates Hills and DePeters contributed four each.
The Yellow Jackets will continue play this weekend (Oct. 28-29) at the Calvin (Mich.) / Hope (Mich.) Invitational. They will begin invitational play against Wheaton (Ill.) College at 4:00 p.m and will then play Calvin (Mich.) College at 6:00 p.m.
