B-W Volleyball Team Splits a Pair of Games During the Second Day of Play at the

Mount St. Joseph Invitational, Giving them a Tournament Record of 1-3

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team split their day two games falling first to University of Dubuque (Iowa), 3-2, and then coming back in their second game to defeat Franklin (Ind.) College, 3-0.

In the Yellow Jacket's first game of the day they were defeated by Univerisity of Dubuque (30-22, 26-30, 30-20, 21-30, 15-12). Senior middle hitter Laura Leach (Norwalk/ Senior) led the team in kills with 19 followed by junior Emily Albanese (Mentor) and freshman Kelsey Hills (Toledo/ St. Ursula Academy) who both recorded 13. Leading the team with 48 set assists was freshman setter Nicole Igarashi (Eastlake/ North). Recording an amazing 36 digs to lead the team was sophomore Kim Stoll (Norwalk/ St. Paul). Senior Kari Kuhn (Amherst/ Steele) added her own 22 digs along with 19 from Albanese giving B-W an outstanding team total of 132.

Coming back in their final game of the tournament, B-W defeatd Frankin College, (30-22, 30-21, 30-20). Leach led the Yellow Jackets with 16 kills and four solo blocks.  Igarashi had a team-high of 26 set assists. Both Stoll and Albanese recorded 20 digs or more, Stoll with 24 and Albanese with 20. Stoll also led the team in service aces with 3 followed by Kuhn with 2.

B-W will return to OAC action in a home game against Mount Union on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m. in Ursprung Gymnasium.
