B-W Falls to Cornerstone, 3-1, and Walsh, 3-0, in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team lost to a pair of NAIA powerhouses today (Nov. 1) in Berea.  In the first game, B-W was defeated by Cornerstone University, 30-19, 30-19, 24-30, and 30-17.  In the second game, the Jackets fell to Walsh University, 30-26, 30-24, and 30-22. The two losses drop the Jackets' record to 16-15 overall.

In this morning's match against Cornerstone, the front row was led by senior middle hitter Cassie Palmer (Greenwich/ South Central) with 22 kills and four blocks. Senior rightside player Emily Bowen (Tiffin Columbian) had 12 kills and 10 digs.  Senior Angie Elser (Wooster Northwestern) had the most set assists with 36 and also had 10 digs. Freshman Kim Stoll (Norwalk St. Paul) had the most digs with 24.

In the afternoon match against Walsh, Bowen had 13 kills and 12 digs.  Palmer added 12 kills and three blocks. Elser had the most set assists again with 23 and added three digs. Stoll led the team this game as well with 19 digs.  Junior Kari Kuhn (Amherst) had nine digs, and senior Kerry Helm (Luckey) added eight digs for the Jackets.

B-W will return to action on Tuesday, November 4th when they host an undetermined opponent in the first round of the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament.  The Yellow Jackets earned the top seed by virtue of winning the OAC regular season championship and will be the host school for the entire tournament.
