BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team lost at Capital University tonight in Bexley in an Ohio Athletic Conference match by the scores of 30-26, 27-30, 30-23 and 30-25. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets are now tied with both Capital and Ohio Northern University for first place in the OAC with one match remaining.
Despite tonight's loss at Capital, the Yellow Jackets can still earn an OAC regular season title tie with a win this Friday when they host OAC foe Marietta College at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium on Seniors' Night. Match time is 7:00 p.m. In addition, with a win versus Marietta on Friday, B-W will earn the host site throughout next week's OAC Tournament. The first round is on Tuesday, November 4, and the Final Four is on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7-8.
In tonight's match, the front row was led by senior rightside player Emily Bowen (Tiffin Columbian) with 27 kills and 28 digs. Senior middle hitter Cassie Palmer (Greenwich/ South Central) had 16 kills and five blocks. Senior Angie Elser (Wooster Northwestern) had the most set assists with 49 and also had 14 digs. Freshman Kim Stoll (Norwalk St. Paul) had the most digs with 42.
Following its Friday OAC tilt with Marietta, B-W will host a tri-match on Saturday against NAIA power Walsh University and versus NCAA Division II Cornerstone (Mich.) University. The beginning of the tri-match is at 9:00 a.m.
