Volleyball Team Defeats Both Opponents In First Day of Wittenberg Invitational
BEREA, OHIO -- The B-W Volleyball team defeated both opponents tonight (Oct. 11) in the first night of the Wittenberg National Invitational Tournament in Springfield. The Yellow Jackets first defeated Rochester (NY) Institute of Technology, 30-23, 30-16 and 31-29 and then tournament host Wittenberg 20-30, 30-25, 30-23 and 30-28. Wittenberg is currently ranked 12th in the AVCA National Poll. With the wins, the team improved their record to 19-4.
Against RIT, the offensive leader for the Yellow Jackets was Cassie Palmer (Greenwich/South Central) with 12 kills, two serving aces and nine total blocks. Kery Helm (Luckey/Eastwood)contributed 26 set assists in the effort.

Against Wittenberg, Palmer was once again the leader with 12 kills. Defensively, Kost and Gordon recorded 30 and 28 digs respectively.
The Yellow Jackets will conclude action at the Wittenberg Invitational Tournament tomorrow morning when they play Thomas More (Ky.) at 10:00 a.m. and Nazareth (N.Y.) at 12:00 p.m.
Following its trip to Wittenberg and Springfield, B-W will return to Berea and to OAC play when it hosts Heidelberg College next Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ursprung Gym.
