B-W Volleyball Team Falls to Trinity (Texas) and Rebounds to Defeat Dubuque (Iowa)
BEREA, OHIO -- The 24th-ranked Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team split with its opponents at the first night of the Trinity (Texas) University Fall Classic. The Yellow Jackets lost to sixth-ranked Trinity, 31-29, 30-22, 30-28 before defeating Dubuque (Iowa) 30-23, 30-23, 30-20.
Despite the loss against Trinity, junior two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference middle hitter Cassie Palmer (Greenwich South Central) led the front row attack with 15 kills and a .519 hitting percentage. She was followed by senior Academic All-OAC outside hitter Sarah Gordon (Wooster Senior) and junior right side player Emily Bowen (Tiffin Columbian) with 14 and 12 kills, respectively. Gordon also led the defense with 19 digs.
In the win against Dubuque, Palmer and sophomore outside hitter Laura Leach (Norwalk) each contributed with 13 kills apiece. Senior libero Kate Kost (Fairview Park) had 20 digs in the win. Leach also had five service aces.
Two milestones were reached in tonight's action. Kate Kost surpassed Regan Pore (1997-2000) as the B-W all-time career leader in digs. She now has 1,724 career digs. In addition, junior setter Kerry Helm (Luckey Eastwood) passed the 2000 career set assists plateau. With her 83 set assists tonight, Helm has 2058 career sets.
