Yellow Jacket Volleyball Team Falls to Mt. Saint Joseph, 3-1, in Berea


The Yellow Jackets played at home for the first time
since September 1.

BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to the visiting College of Mount Saint Joseph tonight (Friday, October 9, 2009) at Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.

With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 3-19 overall. The Lions improve to 13-7.

Mt. St. Joseph won the first set, 25-13, but the Jackets rallied from a late deficit to win the second, 26-24. The Lions then took the next two games by scores of 25-14 and 25-18 to earn the win.

Junior Abbey Thompson (Lorain/ Clearview) led the Yellow Jacket offense with six kills, junior setter Casey Passen (Ashville/Teays Valley) recorded 19 assists and junior Rebecca Pittenger (Alliance/ Senior) totaled three service aces.

Defensively, freshman Alex Gbur (Toledo/ Central Catholic) led B-W with 17 digs while Passen recorded 12 and three others totaled 11 including Pittenger, sophomore Danielle Gerwin (Bowling Green) and freshman Natalie Emmons (Ashland/ Senior).

The Yellow Jackets are back tomorrow afternoon as they play host to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Capital University at 1:00 p.m. at Ursprung Gymnasium.
