BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team dropped its Ohio Athletic Conference opener at rival Mount Union by a score of 3-0 in Alliance.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets slip to 3-17 overall and 0-1 in the OAC. Mount Union improves to 13-2 overall and 1-0 in the OAC.
The Purple Raiders defeated the Jackets by scores of 25-20, 25-20, 25-19.
Junior Abbey Thompson (Lorain/ Clearview) led the B-W offense with a team-high eight kills. Junior setter Casey Passen (Ashville/Teays Valley) and freshman setter Jessica Stitts (Eastlake/ North) totaled 12 and 11 assists, respectively.
Defensively, the Jackets were led by freshman Alex Gbur (Toledo/ Central Catholic) with 16 digs while Passen recorded 11. Freshman Rachel Switalski (North Royalton/ Parma Hts. Holy Name) paced the team with two block solos and a block assist.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Tuesday, October 6 at cross-town rival John Carroll University at 7:00 p.m. in University Heights.
