Baldwin-Wallace Volleyball Team Falls, 3-2, to Capital in OAC Tournament Action
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team fell, 3-2, to Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal match tonight (Tuesday, October 30, 2007) in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium of the Lou Higgins Center in Berea. Capital won by the scores of 30-23, 31-29, 22-30, 26-30 and 15-11.
With the loss, B-W, the No. 4 seed ends the season with a record of 18-14. With the win, Capital, the No. 5 seed improves to 21-8 and advances to play No. 1 seed Ohio Northern University on Friday (Nov. 3) at 7:00 p.m. in Ada.
The Yellow Jackets were led offensively by senior All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) with 29 kills and junior middle hitter Maria DePeters (Williamsville, N.Y./Mt. St. Mary Academy) with 21 kills. Freshman setter Casey Passen (Ashville/Teays Valley) totaled 69 set assists while senior three-year starting libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/Senior) had four service aces.
Defensively, B-W was led by Marten and Hills with 24 digs each.
