Baldwin-Wallace College Volleyball Team Falls, 3-2, to Mount Union College in Berea
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team fell, 3-2, to Mount Union College in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener in the Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
The Purple Raiders defeated the Yellow Jackets by the score of 30-24, 23-30, 30-26, 23-30 and 15-12. B-W falls to 8-8 overall and 0-1 in the OAC with the loss and the Mount Union improves to 14-3 overall and 1-1 in the OAC.
The Yellow Jackets offense was led by senior outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) with 23 kills and 11 digs. Junior middle hitter Maria DePeters (Williamsville, N.Y./Mt. St. Mary Academy) had 11 kills and two service aces. Freshman set Casey Passen (Ashville/Teays Valley) earned 52 set assists and had 12 digs. Defensively senior libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green) had 35 digs and a service ace. Freshman defensive specialist Melissa Grame (Berea) had 15 digs.
B-W returns to action on Friday (Sept. 28) when it travels to Cincinnati for the College of Mount St. Joseph Classic. The Yellow Jackets play Anderson (Ind.) University at 5:30 p.m. and Mount Union at 7:30 p.m.
