Baldwin-Wallace College Volleyball Team Splits on Day One of the Emory (Ga.) University Invitational
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team split its two matches tonight (Friday, October 26, 2007) at the Emory (Ga.) University National Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia as it fell, 3-0, to Birmingham-Southern (Ala.) College, but defeated Randolph-Macon (Va.) College, 3-0.
In the first match, Birmingham-Southern defeatd B-W by the scores of 30-25, 30-15 and 30-20. Offensively B-W was led by junior middle hitter Maria DePeters (Williamsville, N.Y./Mount St. Mary Academy) with 11 digs. Senior outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) contributed nine kills while freshman setter Casey Passen (Ashville/Teays Valley) had 27 set assists. Defensively senior libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green) had 16 digs while Hills had 11.
In the second match, B-W defeated Randolph-Macon by the scores of 30-14, 30-18 and 30-26. Hills led the offense with 20 kills. DePeters had 11kills while Passen had 35 set assists. Defensively, Marten had 19 digs and Hills had 13.
B-W returns to action tomorrow (Oct. 27) in the Emory National Invitational as it closes out the regular season when it plays No. 8-ranked and host Emory at 2:00 p.m.
