Baldwin-Wallace Volleyball Team Falls, 3-0, to No. 8-ranked Emory (Ga.) in Atlanta
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team fell, 3-0, to No. 18-ranked Emory (Ga.) University during the second day of the Emory National Invitational tonight (Saturday, October 27, 2007) in Atlanta, Georgia. Emory won the match by the scores of 30-22, 30-16 and 30-14.
With the loss, Baldwin-Wallace drops to 18-13 overall , while Emory improves to 25-6 overall.
The Yellow Jackets were led offensively by senior All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) with 11 kills and junior middle hitter Maria DePeters (Williamsville, N.Y./Mt. St. Mary Academy) with nine kills. Freshman setter Casey Passen (Ashville/Teays Valley) totaled 25 set assists while senior three-year starting libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/Senior) had two service aces.
Defensively, B-W was led by Marten with a team-high 23 digs.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 30) when they host Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tourament quarterfinal match at 7:00 p.m. in the Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
