Baldwin-Wallace College Volleyball Team Falls, 3-2, to Case Western Reserve University

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team was defeated by Case Western Reserve University, 3-2, tonight (September 12) in University Circle.

The Spartans defeated the Yellow Jackets 30-25, 25-30, 18-30, 30-25, 15-13.  The Yellow Jackets fall to 5-4 with the loss as Case Western Reserve improves to 4-5 overall.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills  (Toledo/ St. Ursula Academy), who recorded 25 kills and 22 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Vicky Benedejcic (Chardon) contributed 13 kills while junior Maria DePeters (Williamsville, N.Y., Mount St. Mary Academy) added 12 kills.  Freshman Casey Passen (Ashville/ Teays Valley) earned 59 set assists. Senior libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/ Senior) contributed 30 digs to the team. Leading the team’s blocking efforts was Hills with four.

The volleyball team will travel to Springfield, Ohio for the Wittenberg University "Border Battle" Tournament, which will feature four teams from Ohio and four teams from Michigan, on Friday and Saturday September 14-15. Friday at 1:00 p.m. the Yellow Jackets will play Alma (Mich.) College and then will play 10th-ranked Calvin (Mich.) at 5:00 p.m.
