Baldwin-Wallace College Volleyball Team Upsets Nationally Ranked Capital University, 3-1, in Berea

BEREA, OHIO --  The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team upset No. 22-ranked Capital University, 3-1, tonight (Thursday, October 4, 2007) in an Ohio Athletic Conference match in Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.  B-W won by the scores of 30-26, 30-28, 18-30 and 30-26.

With thelwin, Baldwin-Wallace improves to 12-10 overall and 1-2 in the OAC, while Capital falls to 17-6 overall and 2-1 in the OAC. 

The Yellow Jackets were led offensively by senior All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) with 32 kills and junior middle hitter Maria DePeters (Williamsville, N.Y./Mt. St. Mary Academy) with 14 kills.  Freshman setter Casey Passen (Ashville/Teays Valley) totaled 69 set assists. 

Defensively, B-W was led by senior three-year starting libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/Senior) with team-high 31 digs, followed by Passen with 15 and freshman defensive specialist Melissa Grame (Berea) with 14. 

The Yellow Jackets return to action on tomorrow (Oct. 5) when they host OAC foe Wilmington College at 7:00 p.m. in the Ursprung Gymnaium of The Lou Higgins Center.
