BEREA, OHIO-- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team defeated OAC rival Muskingum College, 3-1, today (Sept. 16) in Ursprung Gymnasium. With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 9-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while Muskingum dropped to 7-4 and suffered their first loss in conference play falling to 0-1 in the OAC.
The Yellow Jackets won the match 3-1, (21-30, 31-29, 30-16, 30-23). Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) and sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic) led the offensive charge as both had 19 kills. Sophomore middle hitter Maria DePeters (Williamsville N.Y./Mt. St. Mary Academy) accounted for 10 kills. Senior All-American setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/St. Paul) added 49 set-assists for the Yellow Jackets.
Defensively, the Yellow Jackets were led by junior Meggie Marten (Bowling Green) with 32 digs and Hills with 28. DePeters, Camp, and sophomore Brooke Hinkle (Wellington) each had four total blocks.
The Yellow Jackets next match will be Sept. 19 when they travel to take on OAC arch-rival Capital University in Columbus. The match will start at 7:00 p.m. at the Capital Center.
