BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team lost 3-1 to Marietta College this afternoon (Saturday, October 17, 2009) at Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 3-22 overall and 0-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Marietta College improves to 16-8 and 3-3 in the OAC.
Marietta defeated the Yellow Jackets by scores of 25-27, 25-17, 25-20, 26-24.
Offensively, the Yellow Jackets were led by junior Abbey Thompson (Lorain/ Clearview) with 14 kills and freshman Rachel Switalski (North Royalton/Parma Heights Holy Name) with 11 kills. Also, the Yellow Jackets were led by junior setter Casey Passen (Ashville/Teays Valley) with 31 assists.
Defensively, the Yellow Jackets were led by freshman Alex Gbur (Toledo/ Central Catholic) with 18 digs. Along with freshman Natalie Emmons (Ashland/Senior) totaling 10 digs. Freshman Karianne Sifferlin (Wooster/Senior) totaled three blocks.
The Yellow Jackets are back this Tuesday, October 20 as the Yellow Jackets travel to play Otterbein College at 7:00 p.m.
