Baldwin Wallace Falls To #1 Ranked Washington (Mo.) University in Third Match of Bears Classic
ST. LOUIS, MO. -- The Baldwin Wallace volleyball team was defeated by #1 nationally ranked powerhouse Washington (Mo.) University, 3-0, in their third game of the Washington (Mo.) University Tournament.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets drop to 12-7 overall and 1-2 in tournament play, while Washington University improves to a perfect 18-0 overall and 3-0 for the tournament. B-W fell by the scores of 30-20, 30-21, 30-21.
Leading the Yellow Jacket offense was All-OAC senior Emily Albanese (Mentor) with eight kills, followed by freshman outside hitter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./ West Catholic) with six. Albanese also registered the team's only service ace. Junior setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) recorded 23 set assists.
Defensively, Camp led the team with 16 digs, followed by Selgo with 11, and sophomore libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/ Senior) with 10. Freshman middle hitter Maria DePeters (Buffalo, N.Y./ Mt. St. Mary Academy) led the team with three blocks (one solo and two assisted). Brooke Hinkle (Wellington) and Selgo had two assisted blocks.
B-W will play its last game of the tournament at 12:15 (CST) versus Westminster (Mo.) College. The Yellow Jackets will return home on Tuesday (Oct. 11) to play host to cross-town OAC rival John Carroll at 7:00 p.m. at Ursprung Gymnasium.
