The Baldwin-Wallace Volleyball Team Lost to Host Mt. St. Joseph College, (3-2),
Droping Their Tournament Record to 2-1
CINCINNATI, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team lost to host Mt. St. Joseph College, 3-2, at the Mt. St. Joseph College Invitatoinal placing them in the third/ fouth place game starting tonight at 5:30 p.m.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets are now 10-4 overall and 2-1 in tournament play while Mt. St. Joseph improves to 13-5 overall and 3-0 in tournament play. B-W lost by the scores of 30-20, 26-30, 23-30, 30-28 and 12-15.
Leading the Yellow Jacket offense was freshman outside hiter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./ West Catholic) with 24 kills followed by sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/ St. Ursula Academy) with 19. Leading the team in service aces is senior All-OAC rightside player Emily Albanese (Mentor) with three, followed by Sophomore defensive specialist Toni Ward (Mogadore/ Field) with two. Junior setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) led the team with 58 set assists.
On the defensive side of the play, Camp and Selgo both recording 24 digs, followed by Albanses with 23, and sophomore libaro Meggie Martin (Bowling Green) with 22. With four total blocks (zero solo and four assists), freshman middle hitter Maria DePeters (Buffalo, N.Y./ Mount St. Mary Academy) led the team, followed by Hills and Albanese both with three total blocks.
The Yellow Jackets continue play at the Mt. St. Joseph Tournament tonight (Oct. 1) at 5:30 p.m. when the play in the championships round to determine the thrid/ fourth place winners. Following the conclusion of this tournament, the Yellow Jackets will travel to OAC rival Mount Union College on Tuesday, Oct. 4 to continue conference play. The game will start at 7:00 p.m. in Alliance, Ohio.
