The Baldwin-Wallace College Volleyball Defeated Carthage (Wis.) College, 3-0
at the 2005 Wittenberg Fall Classic
SPRINGFIELD, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team defeated Carthage (Wis.) College, 3-0, for its second victory today (Oct. 28) at the 2005 Wittenberg Fall Classic.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 20-9 overall and 2-0 in tournament play, while Carthage drops to 26-4 overall and 0-1 in their first tournament game. B-W won by scores of 30-23, 30-26, and 30-24.
Leading the Yellow Jackets in offensive play was sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/ St. Ursula Academy) will 13 kills. Junior setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) led the team in set assists with 24 for the night. Freshman outside hitter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./ West Catholic) led the team in service aces with three.
Defensively, Camp along with freshman middle hitter Maria DePeters (Williamsville, N.Y./ Mount St. Mary Acad.) led the team in total blocks both with six (one solo and five assists), followed by sophomore middle hitter Betsy Gilbert (Mansfield/ Senior) with four (two solo and two assists). Leading the team in digs was Hills with 22, followed by sophomore libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/ Senior) with 17.
The Yellow Jackets continue their tournament play tomorrow (Oct. 29) when they play Wittenberg University at 11:30 a.m. They willl finish tournament play at 3:30 p.m. against The College of Wooster.
