Baldwin-Wallace Volleyball Team Defeats Mount Union College in the Marcia
French Invitational to Earn First Place
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team defeated Mount Union College, 3-0 (30-23, 30-23, 30-26), during the championship game at the eight annual Marcia French Memorial Tournament tonight (Friday, Sept. 10) at the Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 6-3 for the season.
Freshman Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./ West Catholic) led the offensive attack with 16 kills. Freshman Maria DePeters (Buffalo, N.Y./ Mount St. Mary Academy) had 13. DePeters also had two service aces. Junior transfer Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) had a team-high 44 set assists.
On defense, sophomore Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/ Senior) led the way with 30 digs. Senior Emily Albanese (Mentor) added 18 and Selgo had 13. Camp also had five total blocks including a team-high three solo.
For their efforts, Albanese, Camp and sophomore Kelsey Hills (Toledo/ St. Ursula Academy) were all selected to the All-Tournament Team.
The Yellow Jacket will resume play on Wednesday, Sept. 14 when they travel to cross-town rival Case Western Reserve, game begins at 7:00 p.m. The Yellow Jackets next home game will be played on Tuesday, Sept. 27 when they complete in their first OAC season match against Otterbein, game begines at 7:00 p.m. in the Ursprung Gymnasium.
