The Baldwin-Wallace College Volleyball Team Defeated Mount Union College,
3-0, Improving Their Record in the Ohio Athletic Conference to 2-0
ALILIANCE, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team defeated Mount Union College, 3-0, improving their record in the Ohio Athletic Conference to 2-0.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets are now 11-5 overall and 2-0 in the OAC, while Mount Union falls to 11-7 overall and 0-3 in the OAC. B-W won by the scores of 30-20, 30-10, and 30-25.
Leading the Yellow Jacket offense was freshman outside hiter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./ West Catholic) with 11 kills followed by sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) with 10. Freshman middle hitter Maria DePeters (Buffalo, N.Y./ Mount St. Mary Academy) and senior All-OAC rightside player Emily Albanese (Mentor) followed close behind with nine and eight kills, respectively. DePeters also led the team with two service aces. Junior setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) recorded a team-leading 36 set assists.
Defensively, sophomore libero Meggie Martin (Bowling Green) led the team with 18 digs, followed by Albanese with 16. Selgo also added 12 digs. Brooke Hinkle (Wellington) and DePeters each had a team-high four blocks.
The Yellow Jackets will compete in the Washington (Mo.) University Invitational beginning Friday, Oct. 7. The first game will start at 3:00 p.m. central standard time followed by a second game at 5:15 p.m.
