Baldwin Wallace Defeats Fontbonne University in Second Game of Washington
(Mo.) Tournament, 3-0
ST. LOUIS, MO. -- The Baldwin Wallace volleyball team defeated Fontbonne University, 3-0, in their second game of the Washington (Mo.) University Tournament.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets are now 12-6 overall and 1-1 in tournament play, while Fontbonne falls to 16-5 overall and 1-1 for the tournament. B-W won by the scores of 30-26, 30-24, 30-18.
Leading the Yellow Jacket offense was freshman outside hitter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./ West Catholic) with 12 kills, followed by All-OAC senior Emily Albanese (Mentor) with 10. Sophomore Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) and Albanese led the team with three service aces a piece. Junior setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) recorded a team-leading 32 set assists.
Defensively, Selgo led the team with 16 digs, followed by sophomore libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/ Senior) with 13. Freshman middle hitter Brooke Hinkle (Wellington) had a team-high seven blocks (one solo and six assisted), and Hills added four assisted blocks
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action for day two of the tournament Saturday (Oct. 8) at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (CST).
