The Baldwin-Wallace Volleyball Team Lost to Defiance College, (3-2),
Earning Fourth Place in the Tournament
CINCINNATI, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team lost to Defiance College, 3-2, at the Mt. St. Joseph College Invitatoinal and placed fourth overall in the tournament.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets are now 10-5 overall and placed fourth overall in the tournament while Defiance improves to 10-8 overall and placed third overall in the tournament. B-W lost by the scores of 32-30, 24-30, 30-20, 22-30 and 8-15.
Leading the Yellow Jacket offense was freshman outside hiter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./ West Catholic) with 18 kills followed by freshman middle hitter Brooke Hinkle (Wellington) with 13. Leading the team in service aces is senior All-OAC rightside player Emily Albanese (Mentor) with four. Junior setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) led the team with 44 set assists.
On the defensive side of the play, sophomore libaro Meggie Martin (Bowling Green) led the team with 24 digs, followed closely by Selgo who recorded 23. With eight total blocks (three solo and five assists), Hinkle led the team, followed by freshman middle hitter Maria DePeters (Buffalo, N.Y./ Mount St. Mary Academy) with five total blocks (three solo and two assists) and Camp, who also had five total blocks (one solo and four assists).
The Yellow Jackets will travel to OAC rival Mount Union College on Tuesday, Oct. 4 to continue conference play. The game will start at 7:00 p.m. in Alliance, Ohio.
