Baldwin-Wallace Finishes Third at the 2004 Kalamazoo (Mich.) College Tournament

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team finishes third in the Kalamazoo (Mich.) College Tournament with a pair of wins over Tri-State (Ind.) University, 3-0 and Kalamazoo College (Mich.) by the score of 3-0.

In game one, the Yellow Jackets defeated Tri-State in straight sets (30-12, 30-25, 30-7).  Senior middle hitter Laura Leach (Norwalk/ Senior) led the team in kills with 16.  Freshman setter Nicole Igarashi (Eastlake/ North) recorded 29 set assists and sophomore Kim Stoll (Norwalk/ St. Paul) led B-W in defensive digs with 20.  Junior Emily Albanese (Mentor) posted six service aces in the three-set win over Tri-State.

To seal their third place win, B-W defeated Kalamazoo again in straight sets (30-19, 30-26, 30-23). With 21 kills, Leach lead the team followed by Albanese with 11. Igarashi recorded an amazing 46 set assists and leading the way in digs was Stoll with 27.

Leach  was the sole Yellow Jacket named to the All-Tournament Team.

B-W returns home to host the annual B-W Invitaional at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium. Action begins Friday, September 10 at 3:00p.m.
