Baldwin-Wallace College Split the First Two Games of the Kalamazoo (Mich.) College Tournament
BEREA, OHIO -- The volleyball team split its first two games at the Kalamazoo College (Mich.) Tournament, lossing to Millikin (Ill.) University 3-1 and defeating Adrian College (Mich.) 3-1.
In game one, Millikin (Ill. ) University defeated Baldwin-Wallace, 30-27, 30-24, 24-30, 30-26. Senior Laura Leach (Norwalk) led the team in kills with 20 followed by junior Emily Albanese (Mentor) with 13 kills and freshman Meggie Marten (Bowling Green) with 10 kills. Leading with 49 sets assists was freshman Nicole Igarashi (Eastlake). Kim Stoll (Norwalk), who lead the team and confrence with digs last year, lead the team with 17 digs.
In the nightcap, the Yellow Jackets won their first game of the season in four sets 30-19, 25-30, 30-23, 30-23 over Adrian (Mich.) College. Leach again led the team in kills with 19 followed by freshman outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) with 11. Leading with 45 sets assists was Igarashi. Senior defensive specialist Kari Kuhn (Amhurst/ Steele) led the team in digs with 20. The ladies will be back in action tomorrow morning against Tri-State (Ind.) University at 10:00 a.m. and then followed by the championship/consolation rounds beginning at 2:00 p.m. depending on the outcome of game one.
