Yellow Jackets Defeat OAC Rival Marietta College in Straight Sets

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta in straight sets (30-26, 30-16, 30-25).  The win also gives veteran Yellow Jacket Head Coach Vicki Brault her 200th win at the College.

B-W is now 17-8 overall and 5-1 in the OAC. With its loss, Marietta is now 6-18 overall and 1-5 in the OAC.

Brault, who is 200-123 in 10 years at B-W and 270-173 overall in her 14-year career, was able to get her 200th win at B-W today against Marietta after the Yellow Jackets suffered its first conference loss to cross-town rival John Carroll earlier in the week.

Offensively, senior two-time All-OAC middle hitter Laura Leach (Norwalk) led the way with 17 kills followed by freshman Kelsey Hills (Toledo/ St. Ursula Academy) with 12. Leach also had four total blocks. Freshman setter Nicole Igarashi (Willowick. Eastlake North) set up the offense and recorded 43 set assists.

Defensively, senior defensive specialist Kari Kuhn (Norwalk) led the way with 24 digs. Sophomore libero Kim Stoll (Norwalk) had 21 digs, Igarashi and junior Emily Albanese (Mentor) each had 19 and freshman outside hitter Meggie Marten (Bowling Green) had 12.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Tuesday, October 19 when they travel to OAC leader Ohio Northern (5-0 in the OAC) for a match at the ONU Sports Center at 7:00 p.m.
