B-W Volleyball Team Improves to 2-1 in the Wittenberg Invitational by Defeating Calvin 3-1
BEREA, OHIO -- Coming into the second day of play at the Wittenberg Invitaional, the Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team had split a pair of games defeating Allegheny (Pa.) College, 3-0, in the nightcap and losing to Defiance College, 3-0. To start out the second day, the Yellow Yackets defeated Calvin (Mich.) College, 3-1.
For their first game of the day, B-W defeated Calvin (30-21, 27-30, 30-23, 30-27). Leading the Yellow Jackets with kills was senior middle hitter Laura Leach (Norwalk/ Senior) wtih 19 followed by junior Emily Albanese (Mentor) with 16. Freshman Nicole Igarashi (Eastlake/ North) led the team with 44 set assists increasing her season total to 653. Freshman Kelsey Hills (Toledo/ St. Ursela Academy) led the team in service aces recording three. Sophomore libero Kim Stoll (Norwalk/ St.Paul) followed by two other B-W players recorded over 20 digs. Stoll led the way with 29, Albanese finished with 23 and Igarashi recorded 21.
B-W will continue their play in the tournament this evening at 3:30 p.m. against Wittenburg Univeristy.
The Yellow Jackets will continue their conference play on Tuesday September 28 at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to Otterbein College.
