OAC Players-of-the-Week: 4/3-10


Baseball

Hitter: Mount Union junior center fielder Jason Evans (Canton/McKinley) batted .474 last week (9-for-19) with eight runs-batted in, six runs scored, a pair of doubles, a home run and two stolen bases.

Pitcher: Baldwin-Wallace senior hurler Aaron Krieger (Bellefontaine) threw a seven-inning no-hitter in a 3-0 win against Ohio Northern. Krieger narrowly missed a perfect game, allowing just three Polar Bears to reach base in the game, two were hit by a pitch and one reached on a fielder's choice.

Softball

Hitter: Marietta sophomore OF/SS Lindsey Romick (Hannibal/River) tallied 12 hits, including four doubles and a pair of home runs in five Pioneer wins last week. Romick tallied six runs-batted in and scored 11 runs en route to batting .444 on the week.

Pitchers: Muskingum junior Erica Hoyt (Tipp City/Bethel) went a perfect 6-0 last week with a pair of wins against #14th-ranked Mount Union. Hoyt held opposing batters to a .200 average in six games. In 31 innings of work, Hoyt allowed six runs (five earned), struck out 22 batters and had a 1.13 earned run average.

Men's Tennis

Ohio Northern freshman Micah Scott (Reynoldsburg) went a perfect 8-0 last week, 4-0 at #1 singles and 4-0 at #1 doubles, en route to helping the Polar Bears to a 4-0 record. Scott dropped just one singles set on the week, versus Justin Bays of Otterbein (6-1, 4-6, 6-3). Scott has won five matches in a row at #1 singles and has teamed with Bart Schenck to win seven straight at #1 doubles.

Women's Tennis

Baldwin-Wallace freshman Tiffany Allison (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) went 5-0 at #3 singles and teamed with Krista Marshall at #2 doubles for a 4-1 mark on the week. Allison picked up wins against three Conference opponents, Wooster and Oberlin in singles play. Allison's lone loss on the week came against Oberlin in doubles play.

Men's Golf

Otterbein sophomore Andy Miller (Xenia) earned medalist honors for the second straight week, shooting a one-under par 141 at the Denison Ted Barclay Spring Invitational on the Granville Golf Club. Miller carded a one-under par 70 on the first day of the tournament and fired an even par 71 on day two to finish first of 89 golfers.

Co-Women's Golf

Otterbein junior Colleen Groomes (Elyria) and Cardinal senior Chelsea Thresher (Powell/Olentangy) both finished in a tie for first at the Ohio Northern Lady Polar Bear Invitational with a 14-over par 86. Groomes was awarded medalist honors based upon a scorecard playoff, marking the second straight week that Groomes has earned medalist honors.
