BEREA, OHIO --  Baldwin-Wallace College sophomore All-American football punter  Kevin Soflkiancs (Middleburg Heights/ Midpark) is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.  It marks the third time in his 13-game collegiate career that he has already earned the accolade.

Soflkiancs earned the honor last Saturday (Sept, 24) when he averaged 47.8 yards per punt in five attempts, including a season-long 66-yarder, in a 28-6 victory against Wilmington College at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea, Ohio.  Three of Soflkiancs' five punts landed inside the Wilmington 10-yard line. For his efforts, Soflkiancs shared the B-W Dick Miler Community Night Outstanding Player of the Game Award with junior All-OAC running back Brandon Hedges.  He currently leads the OAC in punting with a 42.1-yard average in 18 attempts.

As a freshman in 2004-2005, Soflkiancs completed his first season of football and earned his first varsity letter.  He was tabbed twice as the OAC Special Teams Player of the Week against Ohio Northern University and against Otterbein when he set a Finnie Stadium-record by averaging 51.0 yards per punt.  Soflkiancs also earned the Football Gazette Division III National Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts versus Otterbein.

In 2004, Soflkiancs led both the OAC and all of Division III with a  42.7-yard average on 55 punts, including 20 that landed inside the opponents 20-yard line.  He was named as a first-team Division III All-American by both the Football Gazette and d3football.com as well as being tabbed as a first-team All-OAC and first-team All-North Region choice and as the Football Gazette North Region Special Teams Player of the Year.

In addition to being an outstanding football player, Soflkiancs, a business administration major, carries a better than 3.5 grade point average and is a Dean's List student.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Saturday when they travel to New Concord, Ohio to play OAC-rival Muskingum College at 1:30 p.m.
