BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College swimming and diving teams fall to Westminster (Pa.) College by scores of 118-72 on the men's side and 133-71 for the women.

Leading the men's team was sophomore Sean Sonnenberg (Napoleon) with a first place win in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:05.64 and third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:53.24. Dominating the 200-yard breaststroke for B-W was sophomore Nick Gattozzi (Strongsville) in first place with a time of 2:28.29, junior Jake Saul (Napoleon) in second place with a time of 2:29.82 and freshman John Goelz (South Park, Pa./ South Park) in third place with a time of 2:34.29. Winning the top two places in the 400-yard freestyle relay were the Yellow Jackets "A" and "B" relay teams. The "A" team consisted of team members senior Alex de la Pena (Elyria/ Catholic), senior Luke Grilli (Londonderry, N.H./ Londonderry), freshman Jordan Irwin (Westerville/ South) and Sonnenerg, who finished in a time of 3:23.53. The "B" team consisted of team members Saul, senior Joe Meyer (Strongsville), Goelz and junior Matt Grady (Cleveland/ St. Ignatius), who finished in a time of 3:50.82. Individually, Grilli placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:51.13. 

Leading the women's team was the 400-yard medley relay with a first place win in a time of 4:17.63, members on the team included senior Sarah Anders (North Ridgeville), junior Stephanie Markley (Mansfield/ Senior), senior Sara Gombash (Perrysburg/ Notre Dame) and sophomore Kate Ritchey (White Oak, Pa./ McKeesport). Gombash also placed first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:15.29. Sophomore Mallory Hoffman (Gahanna/ St. Francis DeSales) placed second in the 20-yard freestyle in a time of 2:04.57. Other second place finishers include, freshman Ryan Reynolds (Westerville/ South) in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:16.01, Markley in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.89 seconds and the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:35.69, junior Ambica Iyengar (Bangalore, India/ Mount Carmel College) in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:36.23 and the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:51.26 with members consisting of Ritchey, Iyengar, Reynolds and Hoffman.

The Yellow Jackets swimming and diving teams will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 17th when they host cross-town and Ohio Athletic Conference rivals John Carroll University on senior night in the B-W Natatorium at the Lou Higgin's Center in Berea, starting at 4:00 p.m.
