Yellow Jacket men and women both beat Wilmington in Berea

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's swimming and diving teams both beat Wilmington College in dual meet action today (Nov. 8) in Berea, Ohio. The men defeated the Quakers, 121-78, and the women triumphed, 126-72.

The women opened the meet by winning the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:15.27. Team members included senior Marynda Yocum (Canal Winchester/ Pickerington), sophomore Stephanie Zurca (Twinsburg Senior), junior Kristen Showalter (Bowling Green) and sophomore Emily Wood (Carrollton). Individually, Showalter won the 200-yard freestyle event in 2:03.25 and the 500-yard free in 5:40.05. Freshmen Sara Gombash (Perrysburg/ Toledo Notre Dame) won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:20.08 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.47. Her win the 100 fly reset her own B-W school-record set last week at a meet at Oberlin College. Also, freshman Julie Stancliff (Erie, Pa./ McDowell) won the 1-meter voluntary diving event with 168.50 points and the 1-meter optional diving event with 230.80 points. The women also won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:00.04 seconds. Team members included sophomore Mary Dye (Twinsburg Senior), Sara Gombash, junior Carey McDermott Salem Senior), and Emily Wood.

The men began the meet by winning the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:43.88 . Team members included freshman Luke Grilli (Londonderry, N.H./ Londonderry), junior Keith DeVore (Mansfield Ontario), senior Scott Roberts (Sandusky/ Perkins) and freshman D.J. Mosiniak (Toledo/ St. Francis DeSales). Individually, Roberts won the 100-yard butterfly in 56.91 seconds, Grilli posted wins in the 200-yard IM in 2:10.44 and the 100-yard backstroke (:57.20), DJ Mosiniak won the 50-yard freestyle (:22.47) and the 100-yard freestyle in 50.07 seconds and freshman Alex de la Pena (Elyria/ Catholic) claimed the 500-yard free in 5:13.01.

The Yellow Jacket swimmers and divers will return to action on Wednesday, November 12 when they compete against NCAA Division I Cleveland State University and Division II Gannon University. Diving will begin at 3:00 p.m. and swimming will begin at 4:00 p.m.
