BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's swimming and diving team beat Oberlin College, 153-84, today (November 5, 2003) in Oberlin, Ohio. The men's were edged out by a score of 118-109.
The women began the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:00.86. The team members were Lisa Fox (Copley), Stephanie Zurca (Twinsburg), Katie Klaus (Huron Senior) and Kristen Showalter ( Bowling Green). Showalter also won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:03.40 and the 100-yard freestyle in 59.42. Senior Kristen Demby (Westlake) won the one-meter dive with 215.53 points and the three-meter dive with 212.5 points. Freshman Sara Gombash (Perrysburg) won the 100-yard butterfly with a school-record time of 1:01.41. Junior Lisa Fox (Copley) was the winner in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.76. The men began by winning the 200-yard medley relay with team members Alex De la Pena (Elyria Catholic), Adam Gaydos (Mentor/ Gilmour Acad.), Nick Hanna (Napoleon) and Chris Clukey (Terrace Park) in 1:48.50. Freshman Chris Rockford (Berea) won the one-meter dive with a score of 159.3 points and the three-meter dive with a score of 167.45 points. Freshman D.J. Mosiniak (Toledo /St. Francis De Sales) won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.94. Junior Keith DeVore rounded out the scoring for B-W with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:03.89.
The Yellow Jacket swimmers and divers will return to action on Saturday, November 8 when they host OAC rival Wilmington College at the B-W Natatorium. The meet will start at 1:00 p.m.
