The Baldwin-Wallace College Men's Swimming & Diving Team Defeated Ohio

Wesleyan University While The Women's Team Lost

BEREA, OHIO —The Baldwin-Wallace College men's swimming and diving team defeated Ohio Wesleyan University 126-94 while the women's team lost 135-104.

With the win, the men's team is now 5-3 overall while the women's team falls to 5-3.

Leading the way for the men's team were seniors D.J. Mosiniak (Toledo/ St. Francis de Sales) and Luke Grilli (Londonderry, N.H./ Londonderry). Mosiniak won both the 50-yard freestyle (22.46) and the 100-yard freestyle (51.17) and was a member of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay, while Grilli won the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.10) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.25) and was a member of the 400-yard medley relay. Also tallying multiple wins were sophomore Sean Sonenberg (Napoleon) in the 1000-yard freestyle and as a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay and junior Mark Smith (Sandusky/ Perkins) as a member of both the 400-yard freestyle and medley relays. All earning one win were sophomore Matt Laughlin (Centerville) in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.20), both senior Alex de la Pena (Elyria/ Catholic) and sophomore Nick Gattozzi (Strongsville) as members of the 400-yard medley relay and freshman Jordan Irwin (Westerville/ South) as a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Starting the women's team out with a win was the 400-yard medley relay, members included senior Sarah Anders (North Ridgeville), junior Stephanie Markley (Mansfield/ Senior), senior Sara Gombash (Perrysburg/ Notre Dame) and sophomore Malory Hoffman (Gahanna/ St. Francis DeSales). Freshman Ryan Reynolds (Westerville/ South) won both the 200-yard IM (2:19.69) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:38.26). Gombash tallied her second win of the night in the 200-yard butterfly (2:17.23).

The Yellow Jackets will take a long break and will return to action on December 1-3 when they travel to the Fredonia State (N.Y.) University Invitational.
