BEREA, OHIO -- Both of the Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's swimming and diving teams lost to Ohio Northern University in duals meets, scores were 145-86 on the men's side and 132-111 on the women's side.
Despite their loss, several member of the women's team won individual and team events. Finishing the meet strong with a win was the 200-yard freestyle relay, team members consisting of sophomore Katie Ritchey (White Oak, Pa./ McKeesport), senior Sarah Anders (North Ridgeville), freshman Ryan Reynolds (Westerville/ South) and junior Ambica Iyengar (Bangalore, India/ Mount Carmel College), in a time of 1:45.66. Winning individually for the Yellow Jackets were, Reynolds in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:52.43, senior Katie Klaus (Huron/ Senior) in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:41.14, sophomore Mallory Hoffman (Gahanna/ St. Francis DeSales) in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.26, senior Sara Gombash (Perrysburg/ Notre Dame) in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.76 and senior Katie Krzywicki (Brook Park/ Midpark) in the 3-meter dive with a point total of 188.95.
Also winning their last event of the meet was the men's 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:31.15, with team members freshman Vicent Colwell (Parma/ Normandy), freshman Jordan Irwin (Westerville/ South), senior Mark Harris (Manasquan, N.J./ Wall Township) and sophomore Sean Sonnenberg (Napoleon). Winning individual events were Sonnenberg in both the 1000-yard and 500-yard freestyle races in times of 10:29.35 and 5:02.42, respectively, senior Alex de la Pena (Elyria/ Catholic) in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:28.61 and senior Luke Grilli (Londonderry, N.H./ Londonderry) in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.39.
The Yellow Jacket swimming and diving teams will resume competition on Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 15-17 when they travel to Akron, Ohio to compete at the OAC Conference Championship Meet held at the University of Akron. The meet begins at 11:00 a.m.
