The Baldwin-Wallace College Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Teams Both Defeat Oberlin

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's swimming team won every swimming event on their way to defeating Oberlin College 164-43 while the women's team won 139-100.

Leading the men's team tallying three wins on the night was, seniors D.J. Mosiniak (Toledo/ St. Francise de Sales), Alex de la Pena (Elyria) and Luke Grilli (Londonderry, N.H.). Mosiniak won the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and was a member of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay. de la Pena won the 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard IM and was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay.  Grilli won the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke and was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay. Also winning multiple events was sophomore Sean Sonnenberg (Napoleon) in the 500-yard freestyle and the 1000-yard freestyle, senior Joe Meyer (Strongsville) was a member of both the 200-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard medley relay and sophomore Nick Gattozzi (Strongsville) won the 100-yard breaststroke and was a member of the 200-yard medley relay. Winning one event each was senior Mark Harris (Manasquan, N.J./ Wall Township) and freshman Vincent Colwell (Parma/ Normandy) both in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

On the women's side, freshman Ryan Reynolds (Westerville/ South) was a two event winner in the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard freestyle relay. Reynolds was joined on the relay by sophomore Kate Ritchey (White Oak, Pa./ McKeesport), senior Sarah Anders (North Ridgeville) and junior Erica Brubach (Powell/ Olentangy). Other individual winners included, junior Stephanie Markley (Mansfield/ Senior) in the100-yard breaststroke, junior Ambica Iyengar (Bangalore, India/ Mount Carmel College) in the 500-yard freestyle, senior Katie Krzywicki (Brook Park/ Midpark) in the required 1-meter dive, senior Sara Gombash (Perrysburg/ Notre Dame) in the 100-yard butterfly and sophomore Heather Dietz (Richfield/ Revere) in the optional 1-meter dive.

Both team will resume competition on Saturday, Nov. 4 when they travel to Wilmington, Ohio to take on Wilmington College in a dual meet beginning at 1:00 p.m.
