University Invitational Meet For Baldwin-Wallace College
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College swimming and diving teams both placed sixth at the Florida International University Invitational Relay Meet.
Highlighting the meet for the men's team was a fifth place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke relay with a time of 2:04.86, members included freshman John Goelz (South Park, Pa./ South Park), senior Mark Harris (Manasquan, N.J./ Wall Township), junior Jake Saul (Napoleon) and sophomore Nick Gattozzi (Strongsville). The 200-yard backstroke relay placed sixth with a time of 1:52.27, members included freshman Vincent Colwell (Parma/ Normandy) and seniors Alex de la Pena (Elyria/ Catholic), Joe Meyer (Strongsville) and Luke Grilli (Londonderry, N.H./ Londonderry) and the 400-yard medley relay placed seventh with a time of 3:54.98, members included Grilli, Gattozzi, de la Pena and sophomore Sean Sonnenberg (Napoleon).
For the women's team, the 400-yard medley (4:14.71), 500-yard freestyle (5:08.18), 200-yard butterfly (1:57.60), 400-yard freestyle ( 3:54.84) and 200-yard freestyle relays (1:49.69) all placed sixth. Junior Stephanie Markley (Mansfield/ Senior) was a member of the 400-yard medley, 500-yard freestyle, 400-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle, sophomore Mallory Hoffman (Gahanna/ St. Francis DeSales) was a member of the 400-yard medley, 400-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle, freshman Ryan Reynolds (Westerville/ South) was a member of the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard freestyle, junior Ambica Iyengar (Bangalore, India/ Mount Carmel College) was a member of the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard freestyle, senior Sarah Anders (North Ridgeville) was a member of the 400-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle, senior Sara Gombash (Perrysburg/ Notre Dame) was a member of the 400-yard medley and 200-yard butterfly, sophomore Kate Ritchey (White Oak, Pa./ McKeesport) was a member of the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle and senior Katie Klaus (Huron/ Senior) was a member of the 200-yard butterfly.
The Yellow Jackets will next compete on Saturday, Jan. 13th when they travel to Westminster (Pa.) College, meet starts at 1:00 p.m.
