Baldwin-Wallace Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams Defeat Erie (Pa.) Community College

BEREA, OHIO — The Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Erie Community College (NY) at home today (January 15) with the men prevailing, 144-54, and the women winning, 122-82.

Leading the way for the women was Junior Emily Wood (Carrolton), who won the 50-yard freestyle (26.30) seconds and also won the 500-yard freestyle (5:39.77). The women's 400-yard freestyle relay team of freshman Erica Brubach (Powell/ Olentangy), junior Mary Dye (Twinsburg), and seniors Kristen Showalter (Bowling Green) and Sara Riegelmayer (Parma Heights/ Valley Forge) also won with a time of 3:58.44. Riegelmayer also won he 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:11.65 and Showalter won the 100-yard freestyle in 57.07 seconds. Ambica Iyengar (India) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.62 and the 200-yard breastroke in of 2:40.27. Sophomore Katie Klaus (Huron) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:09.03. In the 400-yard individual medley, Sara Gombash (Perrysburg/ Notre Dame) won in 5:03.89. In the 200-yard backstroke, Tiffany Gribble (Galion) won with a time of 2:25.74.

Leading the way for the men was sophomore Luke Grilli (Londonberry, N.H.), who won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.44 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.24. In the 1000-yard freestyle freshman Matt Grady (Cleveland/ St. Ignatius) won with a time of 12:09.09. In the 50-yard freestyle, freshman Dave Fournier (Perrysburg) won with a time of 22.36 seconds. Fournier won again in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.03 seconds. In the 200-yard butterfly, Nick Hanna (Napoleon) won with a time of 2:18.71. In the 500-yard freestyle, Jake Saul (Napoleon) won with a time of 5:30.35. In the 200-yard breaststroke, senior Keith DeVore (Mansfield/ Ontario) won in a time of 2:22.51.

In diving, sophomore Julie Stancliff (Erie, Pa./ McDowell) and Katie Krzywicki (Brooke Park/ Midpark) won the women's 1-meter diving events with scores of 175.25 and 165.15 respectively.

The Yellow Jackets are next in action on Friday, January 21 when they visit Ohio Northern in a dual meet at 1:00 p.m.
