Baldwin-Wallace College Swimming and Diving Teams Compete Well at the Cleveland All-City Meet

BEREA, OHIO -- The women's swimming and diving team came away from the Cleveland All-City meet, held at the Cleveland State University Natatorium, 2-2 overall while the men's team was 1-3.

The women's team defeat Case Western Reserve University 118-111 and Oberlin College 139-88 and lost to Cleveland State University 126-101 and Gannon (Pa.) University 126-107. The men's team defeated Oberlin 152-52 and lost to Case 120-101, CSU 179-50 and Gannon (Pa.) 128-104.

For the women's team senior Katie Krzywicki (Brookpark/ Mid Park) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with scores of 177.85 and 181.30 points, respectively. Also placing in both diving events was sophomore Alanna Roark (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) with a second place finish in the 3-meter dive with 124.35 pts. and a third place finish in the 1-meter dive with 118.30 pts. Working together to place second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:45.55 was sophomore Kate Ritchey (White Oak, Pa./ McKeesport), junior Erica Brubach (Powell/ Olentangy), senior Sarah Anders (North Ridgeville) and sophomore Mallory Hoffman (Gahanna/ St. Francis DeSales). The top finisher in the 200-yard freestyle for the Yellow Jackets was  Hoffman with a second place finish in a time of 2:01.38. Tallying another second place finish was senior Sara Gombash (Perrysburg/ Norte Dame) in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.70. Finishing in third place in the 100-yard breaststroke was junior Stephanie Markley (Huron/ Senior) with a time of 1:11.34. Placing fourth for B-W was the 200-yard medley relay team in a time of 1:56.50, team members Anders, Markley, Gombash and Ritchey, and junior Ambica Iyengar (Bangalore, India/ Mount Carmel College) in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.05.

Winning the only event for the men's team was senior D.J. Mosiniak (Toledo/ St. Francis de Sales) in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.64. Finishing in third place for B-W was sophomore Sean Sonnenberg (Napoleon) in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:36.02, senior Alex de la Pena (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:03.86 and the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:30.25 with team members freshman Vincent Colwell (Parma/ Normandy), junior Mark Smith (Sandusky/ Perkins), junior Jake Saul (Napoleon) and Mosiniak. Finishing in fourth place for the Yellow Jackets was senior Luke Grilli (Londonderry, N.H./ Londonderry) in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:50.53 and 56.45, respectively, and Sonnenberg in the 100-yard and 500-yard freestyle races with times of 50.42 and 5:12.08, respectively.

Both team will continue the season tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 11) when they travel to Delaware, Ohio to take on Ohio Wesleyan University in the Pfeiffer Natatorium at 1:00 p.m.
