Swimming and Diving

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's swimming and diving team won over Bethany College today. The women's team score was 124.5-63.5 and the men's team scores were 114-80.

The meet started out with wins in the 200-yard medley relay by the women and the men. The Women's medley relay consisted of Marynda Yocum (Canal Winchester), Carey McDermott (Salem), Melisa Jimmison (Cleveland Heights), and Mary Dye (Twinsburg). The men's medley relay team members were Bill Lampe (Fairview Park), Adam Gaydos (Mentor), Matt Davey (Marion), and Kris Reiber (Cincinnati).

For the women Sophomores Kristen Showalter (Bowling Green) won the 1000-yard freestyle, Sarah Todd (Seneca, Pa.) tied for first in the 200-yard freestyle, and Emily Wood (Carrollton) (Pictured Left)captured first place in the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard breastroke. Freshmen Melisa Jimmison (Cleveland Heights) won the 100-yard butterfly. Junior Kristen Demby (Westlake) captured the 1-meter optional and 1-meter voluntary diving events. Seniors Marynda Yocum (Canal Winchester) captured the 200-yard Indivdual Medley and Jessica Lawson (Akron) captured the 100-yard backstroke.

For the men Senior Steve Stewart (Canton) (Pictured Right) claimed two victories in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle events. Sophomores Justin Clements (Bedford) won the 100-yard freestyle and Keith DeVore (Mansfield) won the 200-yard freestyle. Junior Chris Clukey (Terrace Park) won the 500-yard freestyle. Freshmen Bill Lampe (Fairview Park) won the 100-yard backstroke.

Also, the meet ended with wins in both the men's and women's 200-yard freestyle relays. The men's team members were Steve Stewart (Canton), Nick Hanna (Napoleon), Adam Gaydos (Mentor), and Keith DeVore (Mansfield). The women’s team members were Kristen Showalter (Bowling Green), Emily Wood (Carrollton), Carey McDermott (Salem), and Ashley House (Lawrenceburg, In).

The Yellow Jacket swimmers and divers will compete against OAC Rival John Carroll University on January 18 at 1 pm at John Carroll University.
