Swimming and Diving

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed this afternoon (Oct. 25th) at the unscored Ohio Athletic Conference Relays held at John Carroll University.  The men and women both won two events and a coed event.

The B-W women won the 300-meter backstroke behind the teamwork of junior Kristen Showalter (Bowling Green), freshman Katie Klaus (Huron), and freshman Sarah Gombash (Perrysburg).  The three women won in a time of 3:11.20.  The team of junior Carey McDermott (Salem), sophomore Stephanie Zurca (Aurora), and junior Lindsay Alexander (Ashland) won the 300-meter breaststroke in 3:38.40.

The men also won the 300-meter backstroke in a time of 3:00.20 behind the team of freshman Luke Grilli (Londonderry, New Hampshire), senior Scott Roberts (Sandusky), and freshman Alex de la Pena (Elyria).  These three men along with junior Keith DeVore (Mansfield) also won the 800-meter freestyle relay in 7:45.90.

The Jackets also won the 100-yard Coed Relay with the team of McDermott, sophomore Bill Lampe (Fairview Park), senior Chris Clukey (Terrace Park), and senior Marynda Yocum (Canal Winchester) in a time of 54.3 seconds.

The Yellow Jacket swimmers and divers will return to action on Saturday, November 1st when they travel to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Mount Union for a meet starting at 1:00.
