BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were swept at Cleveland cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University tonight (Friday, January 15, 2010) in University Circle. The Yellow Jacket men lost 175 to 117 and the women fell 190 to 68.
The B-W men fall to 3-7 overall and the women are 0-10. The Jackets are back in action on Friday, January 22 at Hiram College at 6:00 p.m. B-W also hosts Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University on Saturday, January 23 at the B-W Natatorium at 1:00 p.m. in Berea.
For the men, junior Hector Diaz (El Paso, Texas/ Cathedral) was a double-winner in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.60) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:10.14). Sophomore Nic Null (Shelby/ Mansfield St. Peter's) placed first in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.23. Four-time All-American junior diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) won the one-meter event with 309.10 points and the three-meter event with 300.20 points. The 400-yard free relay team of Null, senior Jordan Irwin (Westerville/ Westerville South), junior Matt Diamond (Ashtabula/ Lakeside) and junior Ryan Musille (Canton/ GlenOak) won with a time of 3:28.72.
On the women's side, Hillary Stahl (Granville) placed first in the 200 IM in 2:41.23 and Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville) won the one-meter dive with 229.70 points. The 400-yard free relay team of Kelsey Richards (Wadsworth), Danielle Miller (Van Wert), Jessica LaFave (Beavercreek) and Gabby Parker (Girard, Pa./ Villa Maria Academy) touched the wall first in 4:10.55.
