Yellow Jacket Swimming & Diving Teams Fall to Washington & Jefferson (Pa.)

BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin-Wallace College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each lost to visiting Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College this afternoon (Saturday, November 14, 2009) at the B-W Natatorium. The men lost 175-125 and the women fell 134-103.

On the men’s side, the 400-yard medley relay team of freshman Louis Runge (Avon), junior Ryan Musille (Canton/ GlenOak), junior Matt Diamond (Ashtabula/ Lakeside), and senior Jordan Irwin (Westerville/ Westerville South) opened with a first-place finish of 3:46.34.

Musille also placed first individually in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.66 and the 100-yard freestyle (50.73).

Junior four-time All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) won both one-meter diving events with 183.70 and 319.25 points, respectively.

The Yellow Jacket 200-yard free relay team of senior Vince Colwell (Parma/ Normandy), sophomore Nic Null (Shelby/ Mansfield St. Peter’s), senior Mark Andrasek (Parma/ Normandy) and Musille closed out the meet with a first-place finish of 1:30.04.

On the women’s side, junior Lauren Schaefer (Westlake) won the 100-yard freestyle in 58.48, freshman Gabby Parker (Girard, Pa./ Villa Maria Academy) was first in the 500-yard freestyle (6:07.65) and freshman Hillary Stahl (Granville) placed first in the 400-yard individual medley (5:39.24).

The 200-yard freestyle team of Parker, Schaefer, sophomore Katie Cvelbar (South Euclid/ Regina), and freshman Kelsey Richards (Wadsworth) also placed first in a time of 1:47.49.

Freshman Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) won both one-meter diving events with 159.00 and 221.85 points, respectively.

The B-W swimmers and divers will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 20 when they travel to Alliance to swim against OAC rival Mount Union College at 6:00 p.m. Then on Saturday, Nov. 21, B-W travels to Oberlin for a tri-match with Oberlin and Wittenberg at 3:00 p.m.
