Both the Baldwin-Wallace College Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Teams Defeat Wilmington College

BEREA, OHIO -- The the Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's swimming and diving teams won their third straight meet by defeating Ohio Athletic Conference rival Wilmington College in Wilmington yesterday (November 4).  The Yellow Jacket men won 147-52 and the Yellow Jacket women won 130-75.

For the women, junior Ambica Iyengar (Bangalore, India/Mount Carmel) won the 200-yard freestyle (2:22.11) and the 400-yard freestyle (5:09.24) events.  Freshman Ryan Reynolds (Westerville/South) wont he 200-yard individual medley (2:36.56) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:10.78) events. Senior Katie Klaus (Huron/Senior) won the 800-yard freestyle (10:38.82) and sophomore Mallory Hoffman (Gahanna/St. Francis DeSales) won the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.81).   The team of Reynolds, Hoffman, senior Sarah Anders (North Ridgeville) and junior Stephanie Markley (Mansfield/Senior) won 200-yard medley relay (2:12.40) and Anders, Hoffman, sophomore Kate Ritchey (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport) and freshman Kristin Slater (New Kingsington, Pa./Burrell) teamed to win the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:01.05).

On the men's side, senior D.J. Mosiniak (Toledo/St. Francis de Sales) won the 50-yard freestyle (25.16) and the 100-yard freestyle (58.80).  Sophomore Sean Sonneberg (Napoleon) won the 400-yard freestyle (4:37.21) and the 800-yard freestyle (9:47.63).  Senior Luke Grilli (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) won the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.19) and fellow senior Alex de la Pena (Elyria/Catholic) won the 200-yard individual medley (2:23.02).  Freshman John Goelz (South Park, Pa./South Park) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:18.81) and fellow freshman Jordan Irwin (Westerville/South) won the 200-yard freestyle (2:14.84).  The 200-yard medley relay team of Grilli, de la Pena, sophomore Nick Gattazzi (Strongsville) and freshman Vincent Colwell (Parma/Normandy) won with a time of 1:58.16 and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Mosiniak, Colwell, juniors Jake Saul (Napoleon) and Mark Smith (Sandusky/Perkins) won with a time of 1:44.99.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Friday (November 10) when they compete in the Greater Cleveland College City Meet hosted by Cleveland State University.  Diving is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. and swimming is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
