The BW Swimming and Diving Teams Defeat Oberlin College
BEREA, OHIO — Both the Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeat Oberlin College at the BW Natatorium today (November 3). The men's score was 116-84 and the women's score was 145-95.
The Yellow Jacket women started off with a win in the 200-yard medley relay with team members Lisa Fox (Copley), Stephanie Zurca (Twinsburg), Sara Gombash (Perrysburg/Toledo Notre Dame), and Emily Wood (Carrollton) in a time of 1:57.16. Seniors Lisa Fox (Copley) won the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.40) and Kristen Showalter (Bowling Green) won the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.36). Junior Emily Wood (Carrollton) won the 50-yard freestyle (26.29). Sophomore Sara Gombash (Perrysburg/ Notre Dame) won the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.71) and 100-yard butterfly (1:01.85) events. Freshman Stephanie Markley (Mansfield) was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.92) and the 100-yard freestyle (57.43) events.
The Yellow Jacket men started off with a win in the 200-yard medley relay as well which included team members Dan DiCicco (Canton/Massillon Perry), Keith DeVore (Ontario), Nick Hanna (Napoleon), and Mark Smith (Perkins). Senior Keith DeVore (Ontario) won the 100-yard breastroke (1:04.92). Sophomore Alex de la Pena (Elyria/ Catholic) won both the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.46). Luke Grilli (Londonderry, N.H./ Londonderry) claimed victory in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.55) and the 100-yard backstroke (57.14) events. Freshman Dave Fournier (Toledo) won the 50-yard freestyle (22.36) and the 100-yard freestyle (50.01) events.
The Yellow Jackets will be in action again when they compete against Wilmington College on Saturday, November 6 at 1:00 PM.
