Baldwin-Wallace College Sophomore Diver Todd Richert is the OAC Swimmer of the Week

BEREA, OHIO — Baldwin-Wallace College sophomore two-time Division III All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) is this week’s Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week for his efforts last Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania.

The OAC Swimmer of the Week honor is the fifth of Richert’s brief two-year career, including four times as a freshman when he set four of five possible school records.

Despite the Yellow Jacket men losing to W&J, 160-131, Richert won both diving events. He won the one-meter event with 259.45 points and captured the three-meter event with 253.10 points.

A year ago, Richert set school records in the 1-meter Optional event with 311.03 points, the 1-meter Voluntary event with 216.40 points, the 1-meter Championship event with 510.20 points and the 3-meter Championship event with 422.75 points. At last year’s OAC Championship Meet, he was named as the OAC Diver of the Year. At the 2008 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet, Richert placed 12th in the 3-meter event and 13th in the 1-meter.

In the classroom, Richert is an outstanding student who carries a better than 3.4 grade average, is a Dean’s List student and a member of the Honors Program.

The B-W swimmers and divers are back in action Thursday, December 5 when they compete in the first day of the three-day Fredonia State University Invitational Meet in Fredonia, New York.
