B-W Senior Diver Todd Richert and Wrestler Andrew Scavuzzo are OAC Players of the Week

BEREA, OHIO – Baldwin-Wallace College senior 6-time NCAA Division III All-American diving sensation Todd Richert (North Royalton) and 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference champion and NCAA Div. III wrestling national qualifier Andrew Scavuzzo (Cuyahoga Falls/ Woodridge) are this week’s (November 22, 2010) Ohio Athletic Conference Male Swimming Athlete of the Week and Wrestler of the Week, respectively, for her efforts last weekend. This marks the seventh time in Richert’s career that he has earned the honor, and it is the second time for Scavuzzo.
Richert, a two-time OAC Diver of the Year, earned his award for capturing first place finishes in both the one-meter optional and one-meter voluntary events last Friday (Nov. 19) in a dual meet win versus the University of Mount Union on Friday in Berea, and for winning the one-meter and three-meter events on Saturday (Nov. 20) in a split of a tri-meet at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
Against Mount Union, Richert won the 1-meter optional event with 185.00 points and the 1-meter voluntary event with 304.50 points. At Wittenberg, he won the 1-meter voluntary event with 303.90 points and the 3 meter-optional event with 259.50 points. Richert currently holds all six school diving records.

The Yellow Jacket swimmers and divers are back in action from Friday, December 3 through Sunday, Dec. 5 when they compete at the SUNY-Fredonia Invitational Meet in Fredonia, New York. Preliminaries each day take place at 11:00 a.m. and the final for those events will be contested each evening at 6:00 p.m.
At the Mt. Union Duals, Scavuzzo earned a major decision over Lycoming (Pa.) College’s Jefferson Thomas, 11-2; won another major decision with a 10-0 whitewash of King (Pa.) College’s Jerry Robbins; pinned the College Mt. St. Joseph’s Justin Meineke in 2:05; and scored a technical fall against Wilkes (Pa.) University’s Mike Bowersox en route to his 4-0 slate. With his four wins, Scavuzzo improved to 9-0 this season and now owns a 61-31 career slate.
The Yellow Jacket wrestlers are back in action on Tuesday, November 30 when they open their home schedule against NCAA Division II Tiffin University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m.
