BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams participated in the Fourth Annual Ted Mullin “Leave it in the Pool-Hour of Power” Relay for Cancer Research. The Yellow Jackets raised more than $500 at their event on Tuesday, November 10.

“This was the first time our team participated in the event and the athletes were enthused to be a part of a great cause,” said fourth-year Head Coach Sara Gildea.

“Several family members of our student-athletes are currently dealing with cancer and this helped the team unite and show support for those specific teammates,” said Gildea.  “It was a tough hour of race swimming, and the event humbled us all.”

“This event really hit home and I’m glad that our team could be a part of it,” said sophomore Danielle Miller (Van Wert).
“My father is currently battling cancer and I know that every little bit of research and funds can help so many dealing with the disease.”

The “Hour of Power” relay swim-a-thon helps raise awareness and generate funds for research conducted at the University of Chicago for treatments and cures of sarcoma, a type of soft-tissue cancer that took the life of Carleton (Minn.) College swimmer Ted Mullin in 2006.
