Freshman Diver Todd Richert Named OAC Swimmer of the Week for Fourth Time and Second Straight Week

Todd Richert
In the meet at Hiram on Jan. 25, Richert competed in just the one-meter optional event and tied his own school-record of 311.03 points that he set a week earlier when the Yellow Jackets defeated OAC rival Ohio Northern University in Berea.
In a 145-93 victory against cross-town rival JCU that helped to B-W clinch a tie for the OAC regular season title, Richert won the one and three-meter championship events (11 total dives in each event). By scoring 479.40 points in the one-meter event and 527.47 points in the three-meter event, Richert reset his own school marks and bettered his NCAA Division III national qualifying marks in each event.
“It’s great to see that Todd continues to just get better and better,” said Yellow Jacket second-year Head Coach Sara Gildea. “He is proving that he is one of the most dominant divers in Division III. He is both a joy to coach and watch compete in practice and meets.”
Richert and the rest of the Yellow Jacket swimmers are now idle until they compete at the 2008 OAC Championship Meet from February 14 through Feb. 16 at the University of Akron. In Akron, the daily preliminary events begin at 11:00 a.m. with the finals scheduled each night for 6:00 p.m.
