Baldwin-Wallace College Freshman Diver Todd Richert Named as OAC Swimmer of the Week
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College freshman diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) has been named as the November 12 Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week for his performance at the Nov. 10 Yellow Jacket tri-meet versus Ohio Wesleyan University and Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College.
In a split of the meet, Richert reset his own B-W school-record for the one-meter optional diving event when he scored 276.85 points. He originally set the mark on Nov. 2 at Oberlin College when he scored 275.70 points en route to winning that event as well as the one-meter voluntary event as the Yellow Jackets defeated the Yeomen. Richert also won the one-meter voluntary event in the tri-meet versus OWU and W & J with 157.60 points and is undefeated so far this season in his specialty.
“Todd is a great kid, hard worker and really enjoys diving,” said second-year Yellow Jacket Head Coach Sara Gildea. “He also is a great teammate who stays for the entire meet and cheers on his teammates at the end of their lanes. We are very pleased to have Todd at B-W and in our swimming program.”
Richert and the rest of the Yellow Jacket swimmers and divers will return to the pool on Tuesday, Nov. 13 when they travel to Cleveland to compete at the All-City Meet at the Cleveland State University Natatorium. The diving events begin at 3:00 p.m. and swimming events start at 5:00 p.m.
