Baldwin-Wallace Freshman Diver Todd Richert Named as OAC Swimmer of the Week For Second Time

Todd Richert
BEREA, OHIO
-- Baldwin-Wallace College freshman diving sensation, school record-holder and NCAA Division III national qualifier Todd Richert (North Royalton) has been named as the December 3 Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week for his performances at the Nov. 30 through December 2 Fredonia State (N.Y.) Invitational Meet. It is the second time that he has won the award in the first four weeks of the accolade.

At Fredonia State, Richert won the one-meter championship diving event (11 dives) as he scored 458.40 points and broke the mark of 414.60 points that was set by Dave Humphrey in 1992. In addition at Fredonia, Richert placed third in the 3-meter championship event and set the school-record by scoring 422.75 points.   Earlier this season, he set and then reset B-W’s 1-meter optional event record when he scored 275.70 points. For his efforts at that time, Richert was named as the OAC Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 10 and for the first time.

Todd had a great meet and is really diving very well,” said second-year Yellow Jacket Head Coach Sara Gildea. “We are so pleased for Todd to be the school-record holder, a national qualifier and the OAC Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season.  It is quite an accomplishment.”

Richert and the rest of the Yellow Jacket swimmers and divers will return to the pool on Saturday, Dec. 8 when they host Fredonia State in a dual meet in the B-W Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center at 1:00 p.m.
